Each year, the Indiana Department of Education presents the Four Star Schools Award to schools who meet all accreditation requirements and perform in the top 25 percent of all Indiana schools in the following categories: attendance rate, ISTEP+ mathematics and English/language arts proficiency scores, and the percentage of students meeting state academic standards on ISTEP+ in both English/language arts and mathematics. We are proud to announce that Haubstadt Community School is a Four-Star Award school.
South Gibson Kindergarten registration begins at Fort Branch Community School on Wednesday, March 3 from 8:30-11:00 and 12:30-3:00; Haubstadt Community School on Wednesday, March 10 from 8:30-11:00 and 12:30-3:00 and Owensville Community School on Wednesday, March 17 from 8:30-11:00 and 12:30-3:00. Registration takes place in the school lobbies. Students age 5 years or older on or before August 1, 2010 are eligible to register. Parents or guardians must bring a copy of the child's immunizations. Indiana law requires all children entering school for the first time to have the following; 5-DTP, 4-Polio, 3-Hepatitis, 2-MMR and 1 Varicella or notification from parent that child has had the chickenpox illness. In addition to immunization records, a certified birth certificate is required from the heath department in the county of birth (Gibson County 385-3831, Vanderburgh 435-2400 and Warrick 897-6105). There is a fee charged for each copy. They may be requested by mail if the fee is enclosed. A copy of the certified birth certificate is made and placed in the student's permanent school record. Registration for in town students is reserved for the mornings. Registration for rural students is reserved for the afternoons. Parents should bring the child with them to registration.
Wellness Center The SGSC will be partnering with the Gibson County Sheriff’s Department to have a school resource officer everyday in the district for the 2009-10 school year. We are able to begin this service because of a Safe Schools/Healthy
Students
grant that was received by the school districts in three counties (Gibson,
Warrick, and Posey).
